The name of Polovragi, according to Professor Nicolae Simionescu, comes from the existence of a field “Paleo”, where gathered all the Dacian wizards and initiates, who could treat any disease existing at that time, with a plant named Polovragi from which comes the name of Polovragi. Today this plant is disappeared.
