The activity of a high school from Balti has been stopped by the announcement of a „telephone terrorist”
On Monday morning, the process of education has been stopped at the High School „Mihail Lomonosov” from the centre of Balti town because of a phone, call, which announced about the existance of a bomb at this institution. After the sappers hd examined for two hours the rooms of the institution, the police came to the conclusion that it was a minor's trick.
The chief of the Department of Education of Balti Mayoralty, Andrei Ciobu, declared for DECA-press that, because of the false alarm, over 800 pupils and teachers had been urgenty evacuated from the building of the high school. Thus, the process of education has been stopped.
According to the adjunct commissar of the Police Station of Balti, Valeriu Starii, the alarm of the teams of police, carebineers and sappers, as well as of the car of firemen and ambulance cost the budget nearly seven thousand lei. Such jokes seriously affect the activity of these services which work according to the rules in case of announcements about the possibility of production of a terrorism act, Valeriu Starii also specified.
The police officers take measures of identifying the author of the announement. As soon as he is found, he will be punished according to the legislation with a fine of up to one thousand lei or be sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
Last year, in Balti, three pupils made false announcements about the existance of explosive materials in some schools. One of them was the high school „Mihail Lomonosov”. In all cases, the minors' parents were fined. They had to pay approximately seven thousand lei for the caused material damage. // DECA-Press
