Teachers plead for simpler school programs

The school programs are loaded and the children cannot cope with the large volume of information. In the civilized world, the secondary schools have 6-8 school subjects in the last year of studies, while in Moldova the schools teach 17 subjects.

Such a statement was made by the vice president of the parliamentary commission for culture, science, education and youth Dumitru Ivanov at the conference “Multifacet and Consequent Modernization of the Education System” held in Chisinau on August 21.

According to Ivanov, the situation in education is now dramatic because the school programs are based on the principle of the multilaterally developed student. He exemplified that the number of physics hours in the 11th grade fell from four to two, but the volume of information remained the same.

Minister of Education and Youth Larisa Savga said that the Education Ministry will take measures to modernize the school curricula and adjust it to the real capacities of the students.//REPORTER.MD
