Tamiflu used in Moldova to fight A(H1N1) virus

Tuesday evening 200 doses of the TAMIFLU anti-influenza A(H1N1) preparation arrived to Moldova from Switzerland from its producer, Deputy Director of the Agency of Medicaments Vladimir Safta told Infotag.

In his words, on Wednesday these doses must be distributed between Moldovan medical institutions.

"For the last days the drug stores registered a record-braking number of sales of anti-flu medicines. There are about 20 thousand of breathing masks, supplied by the Natusana German-Russian pharmaceutical company and it is expected that several more consignments of these masks, produced by foreign and Moldovan companies, will be on sale. We are in need of more than 1 million masks, in order to meet the demand", Safta said.

According to the National Center for Preventive Medicine, 1В 045 influenza A(H1N1) cases out of 2В 184 suspected flu cases were registered in Moldova. Seven people died.

Persons, infected with the influenza A(H1N1) virus are treated in Moldova free of charge at the cost of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund. The state budget allocated 31.2 million lei for purchasing anti-virus medicines and for preventing the spread of the pandemic influenza A(H1N1) virus.
