Swine flu patients to be treated for free in Moldova

The treatment of the Moldovan citizens infected with the influenza A (H1N1) virus will be free of charge at the cost of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund.

According to the Ministry of Health, the state budget allocated 31.2 million lei ($3 million) for purchasing anti-influenza medicines and preparations.

It is expected that 200 thousand doses of the Tamiflu preparation, purchased by the Government for the treatment of those infected with the influenza A (H1N1) virus, including those, who had no medical insurance. The first consignment of anti-influenza A (H1N1) virus (20 thousand doses) will arrive to Moldova at the beginning of December. It will be granted by the Romanian Government, a humanitarian aid.

Moldova registered 384 cases of the pandemic influenza. Four persons, who were infected with the influenza A (H1N1) virus, died. Several patients, including a pregnant woman, are currently in a hospital in a very hard state.

The Ministry of Health Protection introduced a quarantine regime in medical institutions and in kindergartens, in order to prevent the spread of the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus. The school vacations were prolonged until November 15.
