Swine flu case registered in Romania, Moldova free from A-H1N1

A case of swine flu was registered in Romania, while no suspected case was registered in the Republic of Moldova yet.

A woman that has recently arrived form the USA was found the new flu virus A-H1N1. After one-day stay in Romania, she felt sick, had fever and went to be examined at the Institute Matei Balş from Bucureşti, where she was found the evidence.

Romania is officially registered in the list of the countries where the flu virus A H1N1 is confirmed.

In the Republic of Moldova, the epidemiologic situation is monitored by a special commission, led by the Vice Prime Minister Victor Stepaniuc. The Commission includes representatives of the Health, Ecology and Natural Resources, Education and Youth, Internal, and Finance Ministries; official persons from the Customs Service, the Sanitary-Veterinary Agency, the Agency of Transport and other related institutions.

Constantin Spânu, main specialist principal in virusology and epidemiology of the Moldovan Health Ministry, has said that along with the first cases of swine flu in all the neighboring countries, the authorities intensified the measures of preventing the population’s infestation. At all the customs points, the officers strictly monitor all the people that prove flu-like signs. Enhanced measures were taken at the International Chisinau Airport: all the stewardesses received indications to monitor the passengers’ state during the flights and there is anybody with similar symptoms, they are to call the doctor. A better control will undergo the passengers taking the flights from Mexico, USA, Canada, Great Britain and Spain, countries of risk. To avoid the infestation with the swine flu, the authorities are organizing campaigns of information all over Moldova.

The Moldovan Post has distributed informative flyers to each house. Also, all the tourists willing to travel to the countries where such cases were registered are informed about the methods of prevention. As many as 12,095 cases of swine flu were registered in 46 countries, according to the World Health Organization. The mutation virus caused death to 92 persons in Mexico and USA.
