Sterilization of stray dogs in Chisinau has started
The sterilization of stray dogs in Chisinau started on July 22 and will last by the end of this year.
Under an ordinance issued by the deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu, the sterilization and marking of stray dogs will be carried out by authorized public associations for the protection of animals without shelter. After neutered, the dogs will be transported to the place from where they were taken. 
The “Motorsanitation” Division will identify and catch the stray dogs. The areas near apartment buildings, educational institutions and public places such as markets, stations, recreational areas, parks, lakes will be among the first places to be checked. Specially trained teams outfitted with special equipment will catch and transport the stray dogs.
The Chisinau City Hall banned the use of torture against the animals. The transportation and sterilization activities will be carried out on the days agreed with the public associations between 4.00 and 9.00, except Saturday and Sunday.
There are about 30,000 stray dogs in the municipality of Chisinau at present.//REPORTER.MD
