Smell closes part of Newark airport
A gassy smell led to the evacuation and closing of part of a terminal at New Jersey's major airport Saturday morning.
Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport was reopened 2 ½ hours after the evacuation, Pasquale DiFulco, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said. He said no flights were delayed.
Several Transportation Security Administration workers complained that the gas smell made them feel sick and two who said they felt nauseous were taken to hospitals, The Star-Ledger of Newark reported.
By late Saturday, the cause of the smell had not been traced. Public Service Electric & Gas, the Newark Fire Department and Port Authority were investigating it. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
