Six roads in Chisinau will be repaired from European money

The Mayor of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca and the Deputy Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Wilhelm Molterer signed today a loan agreement of 10 million Euro for implementing a project for road infrastructure modernization.

It is about the streets C. Negruzi, V. Alecsandri, 31 august 1989, Tighina, Alexandru cel Bun and Stefan cel Mare. Besides road repair, underground utilities will be modernized and public lighting will be renovated.

The loan of 10 million Euro is provided for a period of 10 years with a grace period of 2 years and the interest rate is of 5% annually.

Wilhelm Molterer hopes that these projects will provide immediate relief to the inhabitants of Chisinau. Dorin Chirtoaca thanked EIB for the support and the trust placed in municipality. “The new project of roads repairing, like the previous one of purchasing 102 trolley buses, comes with European standards here in Chisinau”, the Mayor said.

Herewith, the Mayor also relies on European support for thermal rehabilitation of buildings.

The project for road infrastructure rehabilitation will be implemented during 2012-2013. Design work is currently carried out.

So far, several roads were repaired, among them the following Alba Iulia, Mihai Viteazu, Muncesti and Petricani.
