Sightseeing in Moldova: Cricova - Moldova's business card
Chișinău / Moldova.ORG/ -- Just 15 km far from Chisinau, you can enjoy top quality wine from the largest wine cellar of the former USSR.
The underground city, about 60 km long, where the wine fragrance is present on each road, hosting 30 million liters of wine, has already become the business card of the Republic of Moldova.
1952 is the year of foundation the Cricova wine kingdom. This year it was decided to keep the wines in the stone extracting mines.
Galleries have been cleaned, arranged and, thus, the Cricova Winery was "born".
It was designed as an elite wine producer on European classical technologies.
The "Cricova" Wine House used as background for its future activity the conducive conditions of its over 60 km long galleries.
The constant humidity of 97-98% and air temperature of +12 +14 ° C around the entire year, create an ideal microclimate for high quality wines storage and aging in excellent condition.
This winery is producing sparkling wines according to the French classical method - "Methode Champenoise", invented by the famous monk Dom Perignon.
The Cricova underground city is memorable due to its various underground galleries and the thoroughness of arranging the huge drums one above the other.
Like any other city, Cricova has got streets and boulevards, only instead of buildings there are barrels, and the names of the streets are specific to production of wine: Cabernet, Aligote, Sauvignon, Pinot, etc.
Over 1mln. bottles of valuable and collection wine are available at the winery. The oldest wine, held by the Cricova winemakers, dates from 1902.
Among the leading titles stored at the Cricova Wine House is half of the collection of Hitler's right hand - Hermann Göring.
The trip includes visits to the Cricova winery galleries, presenting the national collection of wines, snacks, lunch (in the tasting rooms) and a gift - quality wines produced by this wine factory.
