Scientologists charged in Belgium
Belgian prosecutors have charged 12 members of the Church of Scientology with fraud, extortion and illegal practice of medicine.
Radio Netherlands said the charges could open the door to Scientology being considered a criminal organization. The group -- based in California -- is expected to contest the charges in court.
Former members allege Scientology -- which teaches that the human mind can control the physical world through mental training -- is a cult. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
