Sanitary doctors announce a reduction of number of flu cases as of March
The number of patients with flu and acute respiratory infection will drop as of the next month, according to the forecasts of the National Preventive Medicine Center (CNMP).
Constantin Spanu, Deputy Director of CNMP, communicated on Monday in a press conference that currently the number of patients with flu counts for 5300 people, of which more than 2700 are children, and the number of patients with acute respiratory infections amounted to almost 57 thousand, of which 34 thousand are children. "The flu pandemic is in a phase of stability, and as of March 8-10 will start to reduce", Spanu said.
The cited source noted that "the number of flu cases registered this year is twice bigger than the number of cases registered in similar periods of the previous years. There have not been registered any other lethal cases except the death of a four-month child in Cahul", Spanu said.
According to Petru Scoferta, Head of the Viral and Respiratory Infection Lab within the CNMP, most of the flu cases were registered in Chisinau (1100) and in Cahul district (1018). Scoferta noted that the real number of patients is higher because not all people having flu or virosis symptoms consulted a doctor.
Specialists specified that they will present a forecast on the epidemiological situation for the next year in May-June this year.
In case of contracting flu (high fever, headaches and eye aches, symptoms of general intoxication, nasal catarrh, low blood pressure, laryngitis), patients are advised to call a doctor at home. To prevent flu, doctors recommend to take long walks in the air, prevent catching excessive cooling of the body, consume in excess blueberries, lemon, honey, garlic, onion, aerate and disinfect rooms, etc. // BASA-Press
