Russian terror blast kills eight on bus
A suspected terrorist bombing of a city bus killed eight people and injured 56 others Wednesday in the southern Russian city of Togliatti.
A Samara Regional Police official told reporters the remains of about 1 pound of dynamite was found attached to the underside of the bus' shattered chassis.
Andrei Derbenev, a spokesman for the city's rescue service said the blast smashed windows on the ground and second floors of a nearby building, which caused more casualties.
"Many of them were a long way from the bus at the time of the blast but were hit by fragments," he said.
The governor of the Samara Region ordered a criminal investigation as to whether it was a terrorist attack, the Novosti news agency reported.
The city of some 700,000 people is on the Volga River.
