Romanian school pupils from Tiraspol detained by Moldovan customs
About 160 students from the region’s schools with Romanian language of education, who stayed in Romania, under the program ‘ARC’, organized by the Romanian Foreign Ministry, were detained by the Moldovan customs.
According to Chisinau publication Ziarul de garda, staff of Cahul customs office seized the children, who were returning from Romania, the Romanian language universal dictionaries and encyclopaedias, presented by the Romanian authorities, as well as CD-ROMs with images of Romania's Caragiale Theatre and Chisinau protests of 7 April.
As the team leader, deputy director of Tiraspol Lyceum ‘Lucian Blaga’ Raisa Pedurianu said, she had been interrogated for two hours about stay of children in Romania.
‘We were asked why we didn’t like Voronin and what we thought about the events of April’, she said. In addition, the customs employees attempted to learn about the details of the meeting of President of Romania Traian Basescu with young people from the region.
