Romania will allocate over 380,000 euros for implementing environment conservation projects on the Moldovan-Romanian border.

Under a decision made by the Romanian Government, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development will supervise the allocation of the resources from the 2008 budget for the following projects: “Joint Management for Conserving Biodiversity on Border between Moldova and Romania”, “Integrated System for Monitoring Environment, Biodiversity and Natural Resources of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reservation on Border Between Romania and Ukraine”.

The first project envisions the working out of an integrated system for protecting biodiversity in the cross-border zone, improvement of environment authorities’ abilities to implement the legislation on conservation, experience exchanges between the environment authorities of Moldova and Romania and carrying out of joint measures aimed at preserving biodiversity in border areas.

The second project will enable the authorities of the two countries to take correct decisions regarding the use of the natural resources and to maintain a balance between economic development and environment protection // Reporter.MD
