Romania offers over 2,400 places in high schools and universities to Moldovans

Romania provides 2,442 scholarships to Moldovan young people to study in Romanian high schools and universities in the 2008-2009 academic year. This is by about 400 places more than last year. The admission contest will be held between July 7 and 31.

Under a project worked out by the Ministry of Education, Research and Youth of Romania, this year, the Moldovans can apply for 1,050 places in high schools, 1,392 places in universities, 227 places for master’s degree studies, 35 places for doctoral studies and 30 places for resident studies.

The students will be admitted to studies on the basis of the general mark at the last secondary school exam and the general mark for the years of study. The applicants for university places will be admitted according to the average mark for the high school years and at the Baccalaureate.

For the first time this year, the candidates will file the documents to the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau and not in Iasi as before. The Moldovans that graduated from a secondary school in Romania and want to enroll into colleges will submit the documents to the Iasi County School Inspectorate. Those that graduated from a high school or college in Romania and want to enter a university will apply directly to universities, as the Romanian candidates.
