PPCD MP inquires who owns PRO TV Chisinau
The MP of the Christian-Democratic People’s Party (PPCD) Stefan Secareanu wants to known who runs the television channel PRO TV Chisinau. At Thursday’s meeting of the Parliament, the MP made an inquiry, demanding that the law enforcement bodies investigate who owns this channel and who dictates its editorial policy.
According to Secareanu, PRO TV discriminates, attacks and accuses the state institutions and provokes artificial instability and panic in the society with the aim of undermining Moldova’s interests.

At the same time, the nonaffiliated MP Vladimir Braga made an inquiry to the Broadcasting Coordination Council, demanding that it probe whether the television program “In Profunzime” (“In Depth”) observes the electoral legislation. Braga referred to the October 20 program, when political analysts spoke about political parties’ chances of entering the future Parliament.
For his part, Gheorghe Susarenco, MP of the Our Moldova Alliance Party, sought information about the owners of the television channel Eu TV and radio station Antena C.
The administration of PRO TV Chisinau issued a statement, denying the accusations leveled at it. It said that the assertion that the channel undermines Moldova’s interests made by Stefan Secareanu is groundless.
“In nine years of work, PRO TV has been one of the few balanced, equidistant and politically unbiased media institutions working in Moldova. PRO TV is always ready to provide information about its activity in Moldova to the state institutions, which should answer the tendentious questions put by the PPCD MP,” the statement reads.
