Plane crashes into a synagogue, one dead
A single-engine plane crashed into a synagogue in Augusta, Ga., killing the pilot and causing minor damage to the building.
National Transportation Safety Board officials said the crash occurred at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, following reports from the pilot of engine trouble, the Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle reported Thursday.
NTSB officials said the two-seat, fixed-wing single-engine Piper was headed to Cartersville, Ga., from Charleston, S.C.
No members of the congregation suffered injuries and the synagogue sustained only minor structural damage.
