“Our jail is a mad nest” sex scandal
Elena Vnorovscaia/ Chişinău / Moldova.ORG/ -- “If you want everything to be good, you should keep silence and sometimes let them “slap your butt”. I had sex both with prison employees and prisoners, says Angela, temporary resident of Prison #13 in Chisinau.
“The prison employees were ready to put kneel down for we just not to say anything about what has happened”, testifies Angela. There were verifications and searches in controversial businessman Adrian Nichifor’s cell. In a result there were found enormous quantities of alcohol, mobile phones and other prohibited things in prison. It was also revealed that Nichifor had an access to some of female prisoners.
“Nothing have happened there without the informing and getting into the cooperation with the direction of Prison”, says prisoner Angela.
Yana Zmeu:
Two women from Penitentiary #13 request through the “Jurnal” in Chisinau to be heard by the prosecutors, to speak about other prisoners’ and jail administration’s attitude towards them. “We weren’t forced to have sex with male prisoners, but penitentiary administration promised us many good things. That everything is gonna be alright. That we’ll go home very soon. But now we are ignored and cannot receive even the most necessary and vital things”. Angela says that prisoners Adrian Nichifor and Vasile Gavrilitsa had been systematically attending girls’ cell #98 before the search in their cell was done. “Nichifor visited us three or four times a week in a period from August to September. The day when the cell search has occurred we were at men’s cell. There were him (Nichifor), Gavrilitsa and an employee of the prison. We had sex with every one of them. Ion Trinca (employee which was fired after the scandal reveal) stood for nix”, says Angela.
Later on Angela and Cristina were transferred to the woman penitentiary block, but from the beginning these women stayed in a neighbored to Nichifor cell. The man is suspected in death of Nisporeni Commissioner’s brother who was shot dead in April 2010. Nichifor, being in prison, is proclaiming himself as an innocent person.
Nichifor’s cell
In order to prove that Angela was in Nichifor’s and Gavrilitsa’s cell #99 she described in details its interior. In spite of the fact that the lawyer Veaceslav Tsurcan is permanently repeating that his client, Nichifor, is maintained in terrible and even inhuman conditions Angela describes that cell as a very good one – “That is an apartment with one room. The conditions are very good. It has toilet, bathroom, two beds and a big TV set. It has a so-called Euro renovation”.
At the moment Nichifor stays at Pruncul penitentiary hospital. His lawyer says that the prisoner has serious health problems. In her turn Angela is convicted that that is not a real reason why is that man stays at a hospital: “Nichifor is there because he has a repair in his cell. He prepares a tennis court, gym and pool”
The prisoner collects weapons on the loose and alcoholic beverages in limbo.
Angela and Cristina tell that Nichifor often boasted his collection of drinks that he had in his cell. “God! They had so much alcohol! There was Martini, whiskey, many boxes of vodka, about four or five boxes of beer and more than 20 bottles of beer. They also had a little bag of marijuana, money in the kitchen set and about 10 mobile phones”, recalls prisoner Angela. She also says that Nichifor liked to show her mobile photos where he was dressed in penitentiary employees’ uniforms.
After cell #99 scandals Ion Trinca, security service assistant of the penitentiary #13, was dismissed for the lack of honesty, faith and for entering into inappropriate relations with prisoners Nichifor and Gavrilitsa. “Nothing was done here without administrative approval. When someone from prisoners wanted to visit us, they called Petrachi or Puiu”, says Angela.
Women prisoners claim that they were living in one cell with men prisoners to have sex and men were paying for that to prison employees.
Pregnancy in jail
Angela and Cristina testify that there are other prisoners in sex relations. “Lera got pregnant from Gavrilitsa”, says Cristina. It was prisoner Valerya Dobrovolscaia. At the moment she stays at Pruncul penitentiary Hospital. “When she was transferred to us from Penitentiary #13 she have already been pregnant for three months. She said that the child was conceived during a lasting meeting with a friend of hers”, said Iurie Tsurca, security chief in Rusca Prison for Women, for JOURNAL. But Angela assures that no one visited Valerya and the baby is Gavrilitsa’s.
Dobrovolscaia's case is not the only scandal with sexual connotations in prison no. 13. Ala Plamadeala, dental specialist, was dismissed because she was caught while having sex with one of the prisoners.
They mock us
Women say that they were mocked by prison employees after Nichifor cell secrets were revealed. “They told us to keep our mouth shut, not to say anything to anyone. And so we did”, says Cristina. But she also says that they were systematically threatened and were treaded indifferently in medical services issues. “Any request to see the doctor was denied. But I have a risk of a breast cancer and need to be observed. They’ve made our life unbearable”, says Angela.
The unacceptable situation made women to speak out loud about their problems in Penitentiary #13 hoping that the General Prosecutor will take action and measures against the prison. Women are afraid to be killed.
A woman prisoner said that Nichifor was coming to their cell anytime he wanted because the doors were opened. He wasn’t that bad person, as she says, always called a doctor when they need it. She also says the man behaved as a child sometimes, asking her to show him the breast or her buttocks in a childish language.
