Orphans with disabilities begin to study in ordinary schools in Moldova
Over 150 children with physical and mental disabilities - the pupils of orphanages and boarding schools - have become students of ordinary schools within a project on development and promotion of education by social integration.
Project expert Agnessa Eftodi said to your Infotag correspondent that it is related to children of boarding schools in Marculesti (with mental disabilities), Ialoveni (with physical disabilities) and Chisinau (coming from socially vulnerable families).
"School teachers made all possible to create favorable studying conditions for the newly-entered children. Kids with disabilities will study in comprehensive schools for a provided number of years. The rest students accepted the new pupils well", Eftodi said.
According to the expert, it is a successful practice that helps children with special needs to integrate in society and to assert oneself them.
The Government-approved Inclusive Education Development 2011-2020 program establishes it as one of the key programs. The document provides for ensuring of conditions for orphanage and boarding school pupils' studying in ordinary schools.
