NGOs demand correct statistics of human trafficking, immigration
The non-governmental organizations (NGO) demand from the Government to make up the correct statistics of human trafficking victims and Moldovan migrants.
On Thursday, representative of the La Strada center Anna Revencu said at a sitting of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking that only owing to annual reports, made up by the European countries and the USA Moldova knows the number of human trafficking victims.
"The central authorities must charge its respective institutions with making up quarterly reports, giving the number of human trafficking victims and publishing these data", she considers.
In her words, migrants are often subjected to sexual exploitation, forced labor and though about half a million of Moldovan citizens are abroad, the state does not keep a record of them and does not protect them.
Vice-Premier, Chairman of the committee Iurie Rosca promised that the Moldovan authorities will try to make up yearly reports and to prepare the respective statistic data, as well as negotiate the protection of Moldovan migrants and combating human trafficking with foreign Ambassadors.
"The Moldovan authorities will exert themselves to persecute in accordance with legal procedure persons, who are guilty of human trafficking; employees will collect data on investigations, criminal persecutions, court's decision and verdicts for the purpose of preventing and combating this phenomenon", Rosca said.
He added that the laws, concerning human trafficking and migration will be improved, the state will allocate considerable financial resources for revealing human trafficking victims, including children and internal trafficking victims and for rendering assistance to them.
