More than a quarter of cases of mumps from the district of Floresti were recorded in the village of Sanatauca
The inhabitants of the village of Sanatauca, district of Floresti, face an epidemic of mumps. In January, there were 25 such cases recorded at pupils, as well as at youth from the village, DECA-press Agency transmits.
At the same time, the medical authorities from the district hesitate to declare quaranteen in the locality.
Vera Glijin, teacher at the High School from Sanataucam communicated for DECA-press that, in the locality, most affected are pupils from gymnasium. Of 500 pupils of the institution of educaiton, 25 are contaminated with this infection. There are two cases at young people aged under 23 years old. „Since this disease may have serious consequences on men, the pupils' parents ask them not to attend school in order not to catch the disease. The administration of the school informed the Centre of Preventive Medicine from Floresti about the created situation, but nobody went to the locality to see the situation”, Vera Glijin also specified.
At the same time, the chief-doctor of the Centre of Preventive Medicine of Floresti, Boris Sandu, says that he doesn't see the need to declare quaranteen in this locality and stop the activity of the school. „There were no complaints regarding the problem of closing the high school from Sanatauca. I consider that the village of Stefanesti is in a more serious situation, because in this locality, which is twice as little as Sanatauca, there were 20 cases of mumps recorded”, Boris Sandu declared.
Last year, there were only five cases of mumps recorded in the district of Floresti, and in the first month of the current year, the authorities discovered 99 such cases. Half of them were recorded in the villages of Stefanesti and Sanatauca, ten cases were discovered in the residence town of the district.
