Most of the citizens of Moldova are unsatisfied with the quality of their life for 2011 compared to 2010. In a recent survey, over 47% have said that 2011 was more difficult than 2010, 38% saying that they have felt no significant changes, while only 14% have answered as having a better life in 2011 compared to 2010.

According to the same report, almost 50% of the respondents are unsatisfied with the paycheck they get. Every other fifth person says that their earnings are enough to have a decent life, but they cannot buy more expensive goods. Only 2% say they can buy anything they want without any limits.

Almost half of the respondents said that their life is more difficult now than it was in 1991. Four out of ten responded this way. Only 24% of the Moldovans believe they have had a more decent life in 2011 than in 1991. In 1991 the Republic of Moldova gained its independence from the Soviet Union.

The report was made by the Sociologists Association of Moldova. The survey was conducted during January 9-18, 2012.
