Pre-schoolers, pupils of elementary forms of secondary schools, gymnasiums and lyceums of Moldova will study optionally one of the Christian-orthodox subjects: "The Christian-orthodox Education", "Religion" and "The History of Religions", Secretary of the Chisinau Metropolitan See and All Moldova Vadim Cheibas told Infotag.

In his words, the Ministry of Education took this decision on the basis of a request by representative of the Metropolitan See and Orthodox Associations on teaching education in pre-school institutions and secondary schools.

"The ministry's decision will have a positive influence on the society, the study of religion at schools will raise the morality of the youth and will make them exemplary Christians", Cheibas said.

At present "The Christian-orthodox Education" subject is taught at 120 schools in 24 raions.

"But it is not enough. In order to raise the education quality of the optional subjects "Religion" or "The Christian-orthodox Education", it is necessary to work out a clear program for the I-XII forms", Chiebas considers.
