The Audio Visual Council (CCA, media regulator) has warned six TV channels against violating the principle of pluralism of opinions in their news bulletins.

The CCA referred to the national public Moldova One, the private pro-governmental NIT, EUTV and N4, the pro-opposition ProTV and TV7, which were monitored since the beginning of the campaign for the 29 July snap parliamentary election. According to a CCA decision, all these channels have to broadcast the regulator's warning in their news programmes.

The warning refers to the observance of the pluralism of opinions, the distribution of airtime to electoral contenders and objective information of the public opinion.

The head of the CCA monitoring directorate, Dinu Ciocan, today told a CCA meeting that the number of election-related reports increased compared with the campaign for the 5 April polls, but many of them were based on one source only. CCA chairman Gheorghe Gorincioi said that broadcasting companies favoured some electoral contenders to the detriment of others, despite the fact that legislation prohibits an approach like this.
