Moldovan deported from the US for fraudulent marriage
A Moldovan national will be deported from the United States for fraudulent marriage with an American citizen. Eugeniu Catarev, who is a truck driver, wanted to get a green card by marriage. He admitted that he paid the American woman about $300 every month for one year, al.com reports.
The U.S. District Judge imposed identical one-year probation sentences last week on him and two other foreigners from Mobile, Alabama.
Moldovan citizens are prohibited to work in the United States, unless they have working visas or a green card, which is difficult to obtain. There are several ways to get a green card: either by marriage, by finding employment in the USA, asylum, or by winning the Green Card Lottery.
