Moldovan Christians celebrate Palm Sunday

The Christian Orthodox church celebrates today Palm Sunday. It is the Sunday before the Easter Holiday when the Christians go to church and bring home palm leaves, pussy willows or blooming branches. It is marked Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. In Moldova the holiday is called “Duminica Floriilor” or “Flowers’ Day.”

This Day is one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the year and marks the beginning of the Holy Week. During this week a liturgical service will be made every day until Easter. The Christians are supposed to fasten until the Great Holiday.

On April 15 the Christians Orthodox will celebrate Easter, the day when Jesus Christ resurrected. Easter is being considered among the most important Christian Holidays of the year.
