Moldovan air company helicopter hit by a missile in Afghanistan
A helicopter operated by a Moldovan air company was hit by a missile in Afghanistan.
According to the Civil Aviation Administration of Moldova (CCA), on July 14, at 8:00 a.m. (local time) the helicopter MI-26 with the registration number ER-MCV was hit by a missile in Afghanistan. The helicopter was operated by the Moldovan air company “Pecotox-Air”.
According to the cited source, the helicopter was on a humanitarian mission under the aegis of the Joint Forces of Afghanistan. There were six members of the crew on board, all Ukrainian citizens. According to operative data, there are dead persons.
In accordance with the provisions of the Convention on the International Civil Aviation, the investigation will be conducted by the authorities of the state were the accident occurred.
Currently, the CAA initiated talks with the aeronautical authorities of Afghanistan for the Moldovan representatives to participate in the investigation of this case.
