Moldova to receive anti-influenza A(h1n1) vaccine

The first consignment of the anti-influenza A (H1N1) vaccine, consisting of 200 thousand doses will arrive to Moldova from Switzerland. Starting from Thursday it will be distributed among medical institutions, Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu said at a working sitting, dedicated to the epidemiological situation and respective measures for combating flu.

He unveiled the latest data, according to which 467 cases of the influenza A (H1N1) virus infection have been confirmed in Moldova.

"We shall not announce the influenza A (H1N1) virus the epidemic, as the sickness rate does not exceed the epidemic level" Hotineanu remarked.

In Deputy Director of the Agency of Medicaments Vladimir Saft's words, more than 1 million breathing masks, as well as 230 thousand of doses against the seasonal flu will arrive to Moldova before the end of this week.

"The Moldovan authorities will exert themselves to prevent the spread of the disease and to provide the country with necessary medicines and the anti-influenza vaccine", Prime Minister Vlad Filat remarked.

The treatment of those, infected with the influenza A (H1N1) virus will be free and at the cost of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund. The state budget allocated 31.2 million lei for purchasing the anti-influenza A (H1N1) virus preparation to prevent the spread of this flu.
