Moldova to buy anti-flu drugs from Switzerland
The Moldovan government has decided to purchase 500,000 dozes of antiviral medicines, worth 40m lei (3.5m US dollars), from Switzerland.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that the number of doses to be purchased in Switzerland will cover 30 per cent of Moldova's needs.
At its today's meeting, the government also decided to earmark funds to buy Zamifer drug, used to treat flu during the first days, from the USA.
Also on 4 November, the government extended schoolchildren's autumn vacation until 16 November.
In mid-December, the World Health Organization will send 400,000 doses of anti-flu drugs to Moldova.
A total of 42 swine flu cases have been confirmed in Moldova by 4 November. Two men, aged 35 and 50, died.
