Moldova commemorated AIDS victims
A group of teenagers gathered in Central Square of Chisinau yesterday to mark the International Day of Commemoration of those who died of AIDS. The participants delivered a message in support to those infected, Jurnal TV informs.
The event marked the end of a 10 days national campaign which went throughout the country in the most important cities. The people had the possibility to make a free test of HIV.
Over 7.000 persons are HIV-positive in Moldova. Since the beginning of the year, 200 new cases have been registered.
Unfortunately, most of the HIV carriers face severe discrimination in Moldova due to a low tolerance from the civil society, mostly from the people who are not well informed about the way the disease is transmitted.
