Loganesti – One of Moldova’s Ancestral Hearth (VIDEO)
By Diana Ungureanu/ Chisinau / Moldova.ORG/ -- Loganesti is one of the hearths of the oldest human settlements on the territory of Moldova. The motherland of our ancestors that lived 3000 years ago was located on these territories, where were found historical vestiges that attest about five human settlements on the territory of the actual village Loganesti, from Hancesti County.
These medieval hearths were situated on the wooden hills from the other sides of a commercial road, but they were many times destroyed by nomad people that roamed Moldavian lands.
The name Loganesti was inherited from the first boyar who lived on these lands, in the times of Stephen the Great, the boyar Lohan, who also is the person whom was given the property from the ruler of the country. The year of foundation is considered the year when Stephen the Great was ascended to the throne – 1457.
Nowadays, the village Loganesti is one of the largest villages in the republic, with about 1500 households.
The local atmosphere of forest is a wonderful one for each of those who have ever come here. Situated on the bank of the river Cogalnic, the silence of the village Loganesti is guarded by the forest from Bucium, where you can admire the majestic crown of a secular oak.
In the past, on the territory of Loganesti have worked three summer camps, a zone with villas and several resorts. Today you can find accommodation at peasants’ households or you can camp in tents on the hills surrounding the village.
The church of the village Loganesti is a relative recent foundation. Its construction began in 1914 and lasted 10 years, being finished in 1924. It is a big church that is distinguished by its massive tower-bell, with a pyramidal roof with a bulbous annexed to the edifice. The steeples above the nave and altar are small and have only a decorative role. The church nave has a considerable width and it is covered with a roof that has triangular gables in the northern and southern sides of the building.
Not far from Loganesti, the enthusiasts of green tourism can visit one of the largest reservations of forest herbs.
The supple waves of the green hills on which rises the far forest, frames the view of Loganesti village and turn it into an art work that must be visited and admired.
The distance from Chisinau to Loganesti is 37 km.
