Less honey in Moldova due to drought
The honey quantities will decrease this year because of the severe drought Moldova deals with. According to the farmers, the drought affected the agricultural products and the bees did not have enough flowers to collect the pollen. The quantity of May honey decreased with 35% compared to the same period of the last year, Publika TV informs.
The Ministry of Agriculture said there have been reported several issues, but they are hopeful the honey production will increase soon.
“There are some problems, but we cannot say the issue is so difficult. We have identified the problem. It exists. We believe everything will be alright by this fall,” Vitalie Ceban of the Agricultural Ministry said.
Over 2,500 tones of honey were collected throughout the country last year.
