Journalist injured while reporting about the unrest in Balti
A reporter from Moldova’s Jurnal TV has been injured while reporting from the ground about the violent protest in Balti city. She has been hit in the head by a stone thrown by a protester. Jurnal TV informs that Victoria Ocara was taken to the hospital.
The police said the assumed perpetrator has been detained. It is yet unclear whether the man is a member of a political party or belongs to a group protesting against the unionist march.
It is to note that people clashed with riot police today in the northern city of Balti. There are two groups which have organized counter-protests. The first one – Action 2012 – is marching in the city demanding reunification with Romania, while the second group – members of the Socialist Party and Communist Party – aggressively protested against the reunification.
Some protesters threw stones, tomatoes and eggs in the unionists group.
