Calimanesti Caciulata

By Diana Ungureanu/ Chisinau / Moldova.ORG/ -- On the right bank of river Olt, in the shadow of the mountain Cozia, there is a “pearl” of the resorts on the valley of Olt, the resort Callimanesti Caciulata. Rich in mineral waters of a high quality and with wonderful views, the resort draws thousands of tourists every year both from Romania and abroad.

Being one of the favorite places of many personalities of political life from Romania, there was built in Calimaresti one of the oldest hotels of Romania. In 1900 it was built the “Central” Hotel, which works nowadays, receiving visitors whom it provides full set of services.

The climatic spa resort was firstly attested in 1386 by Mircea the Old. A legend tells about a shepherd who came to the monastery Cozia and spoke about his healing after bathing in the lake in the “field of Caliman”, believing that they have “heavenly powers”. Mircea the Old treated himself in these waters in the old age.

Since 1860, the lake from Calimanesti Caciulata became popular and even famous in Europe. At the indication of Dr. Carol Davila, Napoleon III was treated with the water brought from Romania, bottled and shipped to Paris.
The chemical composition of mineral waters of Calimanesti Caciulata can be compared with the waters of famous resorts from France.

The spa-resort from Calimanesti Caciulata is sought especially for its mineral and thermal springs with healing properties of the digestive, renal, respiratory, gallbladder and biliary tract diseases and locomotion system diseases.

In addition to treatment of the body, you can do a course of recovery of the soul in monasteries near the resort, which are in a great number here: Horezu, Cozia, Frasinei, Turnu, Govora, Wooden Monastery etc.
