Hundreds march in Bulawayo
Hundreds of women demonstrated Monday in the second-largest city in Zimbabwe, a human rights group said.
Bulawayo residents were joined by others from the capital, Harare, and other cities, Women of Zimbabwe Arise said. They marched from St. Mary’s Cathedral to Southhampton House, where the government agency that licenses demonstrations has offices.
The marchers sat down on the pavement outside the Police Licensing Office. About 200 were arrested.
The protest came two days after a meeting in Bulawayo to discuss the Zimbabwean constitution. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
