Horse hit by Villagra's car during Rally of Argentine
Rally car driver Federico Villagra hit a wild horse during the Rally Argentina on a dirt track in Patagonia (see graphic video of the crash below). Villagra was unable to avoid one of horses that crossed the road, sending the horse flying 30 feet (about 10 m) into the air. Other at (at least) three horses that had wandered onto the track came within inches of being hit by the speeding car. Sadly, the horse sustained serious injuries and was put down after the crash.
"I was surprised that some horses crossed," the Argentine driver told reporters at the end of the stage. "(It) hit the windshield and flew over the car."
He said he was "fortunate" to have come out of the crash unscathed. The racer only lost 30 seconds off of his race time due to this accident.
