Higher application fees for US visas

The US Department of State increased the visa procession fees as of today. Most of US visas cost $160 now instead of $140 as it was until today.

“The application fee for the majority of visa categories, including Tourist and Student visas (B, D, F, J, and I), is $160,” informs the US Embassy to Moldova. According to the American Embassy, the application fee for petition-based visas (H, L, O, P, Q and R) is $190.

The US State Department informs that all immigrant visa application fees decreased. The fee for fiancé(e) K visa is $240 and for E visa is $270.

“The Department is required to recover, as far as possible, the cost of processing visas through the collection of application fees. For a number of reasons, the current fees no longer cover the actual cost of processing nonimmigrant visas. The nonimmigrant visa fee increase will support the addition and expansion of overseas facilities, as well as additional staffing required to meet increased visa demand,” explains the State Department in a press release.
