Government to appropriate 25 mln lei for farmland insurance

This year, the Moldovan Government will appropriate 25 mln lei from the state budget in order to help farmers to insure the cultivated land against any possible natural disasters, informs the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI).

According to the cited source, the state will compensate 70% of the amount paid for the insurance. The Government also left unchanged the list of agricultural risks and goods that are to be subject to subsidized insurance this year.

The dangers are as follows: drought, hail, storms, floods, frosts, forced scarification of animals and poultry, and goods such as sugar beet, corn, sun flower, vegetables, tobacco, wheat, barley, fall rape, vines, orchards, grapes and fruit crops.
