Ghosts of Soldiers Are Dancing on the Hill of Goesti
By Diana Ungureanu/ Chisinau / Moldova.ORG/ -- On the hill Goesti in the County of Iasi, Romania, every night after 12 o'clock there dance the ghosts of soldiers, dead during the first world war.
The hill separates the village Goesti of Braesti, both in Iasi County. The old people tell that on this hill, in the First World War, many soldiers have died, who were buried without religious job in mass graves. And because they died without a candle and were buried without priest, their souls have no rest.
In the opinion of the locals, the souls of soldiers have died without the special funeral services, so they have not found peace in the other world and today they haunt the hill of Goesti.
"There, on the hillside, in the graveyard, at Goesti, when I was young of 17-18 years old, I saw some lights, they were appalling, dance, appeared in the back, forward, all sides in front of me, at night. They had the shape of the human skeleton. I have heard that, during the war, in 1916, when I was not born, many soldiers died, being buried without a religious job, without candle. Now they appear less. There were made, thereafter, religious jobs, Holy Anointing for these soldiers. We did religious jobs up on the hill and down in the valley. Where appeared the lights, the souls of dead soldiers," said Gheorghe Moldoveanu, aged 72, from Braesti.
Whole nights, the spirits of the murdered moved down from cemetery in the valley, at Braesti, after which they went up again. They had transparent and volatile bodies.
Many of the older locals have such stories with mysterious appearances of ghosts of the soldiers, which scarred the villagers and horriefied all those that ventured in the night on the hill.
Today the occurrences are much fewer due to religious services made on this hill to pacify the souls of the dead soldiers.
Although the ghosts of the soldiers no longer appear, locals do not recommend anyone to go on this hill at night.
What do you say, would your dare to see a dance of the ghosts of soldiers on the hill of Goesti?
