Free of charge HIV tests in Moldova

As of today until May 20 HIV tests will be provided free of charge in six cities of Moldova. The inhabitants of Chisinau, Balti, Cahul, Tiraspol, Tighina and Rabnita will be able to make a test and watch movies on topic, Adevarul newspaper informs.

The event coincides with the International Day of Commemoration of people who died after carrying HIV/AIDS. Moldovan Ministry of Health will also organize an information campaign regarding the risks which the HIV/AIDS involve.

According to a UNICEF report, over 4,996 people were infected with HIV in Moldova in November 2008. The real number is much bigger. Half of those infected are 20 to 29-year-old teenagers.
