Feds say immigrants exploited in sex ring
U.S. prosecutors said an East Coast prostitution ring exploited Korean immigrants.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Elie Honig said five brothel owners made thousands of dollars each week by forcing Korean women to work long hours as prostitutes in massage parlors in New York City; Waterbury, Conn.; and Washington, the New York Post said Wednesday.
"These women were shipped, stocked, rotated around to meet their customers' demands," Honig told a federal jury. "(The brothels) needed and wanted turnover. They needed to have different women there to keep the customers happy."
Defense lawyers argued that the businesses were massage parlors and the owners had no idea that any sex was going on, the newspaper said. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
