Europe Day to be marked for a week in Moldova

Europe Day will be celebrated in Moldova on May 12-19, informs Info-Prim Neo news agency. According to a press release from the organizers, “this day represents an opportunity for the Moldovans to familiarize themselves with the European principles, the cultural variety of the EU member states and the support that the EU offers to Moldova,” reports Info-Prim Neo citing the sources.

The events will begin in the National Square from Chisinau on May 12. Several public debates, culinary demonstrations and presentations of EU projects will be organized. A European Film Festival will take place in Chisinau during May 14-18, 2012.

“The organizers say the celebration of Europe Day by education and entertainment activities allows everyone to feel European. The EU Delegation to Moldova will make effort to strengthen the unity among Europeans and will bring the European values to Moldova,” according to the same source.

The Europe Day is celebrated every year on May 9, the day when Robert Schuman presented his idea to create a united Europe.
