Difficult traffic on the Moldovan roads amid heavy snowfalls
The wintry weather Moldova deals with gives a hard time to the drivers on the Moldovan roads. Half of the routes which connect the capital Chisinau with the northern towns of the country have been cancelled due to heavy snow.
According to sources from the Northern Station, the traffic is partly suspended because of the snow which exceeds one meter in some places. The most affected districts are Briceni, Glodeni, Otaci, Ocnita and Lipcani.
The Chairman of the press service of the Ministry of Transportation, Maria Chitoroaga told Info-Prim Neo news agency that the roads with such problems are under the districts’ administration and the Ministry helps only when there is a special need.
The same source stated that there have been registered some issues with the international routes which arrive with a huge delay at their destination. Routes from Chisinau to St. Petersburg, Moscow, Odessa, Kiev and Voronej, are among the most affected.
Some checkpoints at the border with Romania have been closed yesterday due to heavy snow in the neighbor country, which is severely affected by the snowfalls.
