Crime rate at a higher level in Moldova

The crime rate has increased in Moldova during the past years. According to a recent study of the National Bureau of Statistics, there were twice more infringements in 2011 comparing to 2006. More than 35,000 infringements were committed during last year, meaning an increase by 41.8%.

Despite of this critic growth, the number of the most severe crimes and infractions decreased. The top cities which deal with such kind of infringements are Chisinau and Balti, followed by Orhei, Ialoveni, Ungheni, Criuleni, Soroca, Drochia, Straseni, Cahul, Hincesti and Anenii-Noi.

The economic violations are at a lower level comparing to 2006. They decreased by 13.4% in 2011. The currency violations have increased by 81.1% in 2011 comparing to 2010.
