Chisinau risks having no water due to severe drought
Moldova’s capital of Chisinau risks to remain without drinking water after the water level in Nistru River has highly decreased. “Apa-Canal Chisinau” water supplier which gets the water from Nistru River tried really hard to make sure to avert a potential water crisis. According to them, the water supplies have been advanced in case of an emergency.
The Ukrainian authorities assured Moldova that there are sufficient water supplies in Novodnestrovsk Lake and this will help the river flow to be stable. The water level in Nistru River decreased during the last two months by 45%.
In case of a water crisis, the local authorities from Chisinau promised to provide over 10 liters of water a day to each person.
The severe drought that has hit Moldova during the past month compromised part of the crop. The water level in the rivers decreased. The risk for some cities and towns to remain without water is quite high.
