The Chisinau administration calls on the residents of Chisinau to pay only two thirds of the January heating bill. “The consumers should not pay the full bill because they were supplied with 30% less heat,” the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said at Monday’s meeting of the City Hall.

It should be noted that the heating bills for January sent by Termocom SA are by 15% higher than in December last year even if the temperature in the Chisinau apartments was below the normative limit of 18 degrees Celsius during about two weeks.

The mayor instructed the officials in charge to lodge an application with Termocom, demanding that the consumption of heat for January is recalculated. He said that if the application is rejected, they will file a petition to the Government of Moldova, which is responsible for insuring the smooth supply of energy resources.

Dorin Chirtoaca also said that the heating season cannot be closed even if the temperatures during the past three days were above 8 degrees Celsius. But he said that the temperature in apartments should correspond to the outdoor temperature. “There should be supplied enough heat, not more as it is done in our country when somebody wants to pocket money,” the mayor said.
