California woman jumps off the cliff to escape sexual assault
A man tried to sexually assault a Malibu (California) jogger who escaped by jumping off a cliff and sliding about 100 feet (30 m) down a steep hillside, Fox News reports on Saturday. Malibu is an affluent city in western Los Angeles County. Point Dume is known for a good place to watch for gray whales during the December - March migration period (see photo below).
The woman, taken to a hospital Friday with cuts and bruises from the fall, told police that she had finished a run at about noon at Point Dume State Park and was standing at the edge of a cliff when she was grabbed from behind. She says she and the man struggled for several minutes before she was able to break away. That's when the woman ran and jumped off the cliff.
The Los Angeles police say the suspect took woman's Toyota Land Cruiser.
