The books of fairy tales with Mos Craciun (Christmas Uncle – Moldovan Santa Claus) and Christmas carols and poems are the most solicited during the winter holidays. The book shops of Chisinau propose a large variety of such books of different measures and prices.
The number of books sold during the winter holidays has significantly increased, Sales Manager at a Society of Books Distribution Victoria Gudumac has said, contacted by BASA-press. The most solicited are the books of fairy tales with Mos Craciun and those with Christmas carols and poems, the prices of which vary between 25 and 60 lei (about five dollars).
“The encyclopedias are also required, though they cost between 150 and two hundred lei (up to 18 dollars). Some parents choose books from the series The Little Princess, for which they pay between 50 and one hundred lei, or Harry Potter volumes at 270-three hundred lei.
“The parents with small children prefer the books for colouring with pictures of Mos Craciun and Alba ca Zapada. Though the prices for books have increased against last year, the parents still buy books to bring joy to their children”, Gudumac said.
The books sales have soared during the winter holidays, sources from more book shops have said to BASA-press. The women also choose love stories as a gift. // BASA-Press
