Balti Town, under the risk of an epidemic of mumps

There are 26 cases of mumps, which affected especially youth aged 14 to 19 years old, recorded in Balti town, DECA-press informs.
Doctors assert that this is the initial stage of infection in mass. Thus, next month, the number of cases of mumps could grow considerably.
According to the adjunct- chief-doctr of the Centre of Preventive Medicine (CPM) of Balti, Veaceaslav Chislari, the cases of mumpt were recorded in ni institutions of education, where, at this moment, typical prophylactic measures are taken to prevent the malady. Today, there are no reasons to institute quarantine in these institutions, Chislari said.
According to CPM, of the total number of 26 young poeple ill of mumps, 23 are hospitalized in Balti Hospital, and three are cured at home.
According to epidemiologists, nearly 14 thousand young people aged 14-19 years old under the risk of catching the disease have to be revaccinated.
At present, the Ministry of Health Care examines the possibility to purchase the vaccines. // DECA-Press
